Internet Advertising begins with five basic rules to run an effective marketing campaign from home. The MAJORITY of your advertising should be FREE when you're first starting out! Especially until you understand the market well, and know the return on investment.

Remember when starting out that the idea is to MAKE money from home, not LOSE it on wasted ads you paid a fortune for with little to no ROI (return on investment) because you didn't know what you were doing.

So to begin with, before I tell you about the best places to advertise for free, read my 5 rules to effective home business advertising online.

1. Target your website and promotions only to your niche.

This is how to reduce your competition in Internet advertising and bring warm, ready-to-buy targeted searchers with less expense. If you are just starting your home based business and want to learn how to best make money from home, you need to determine what your niche is and how narrow or broad it should be. Once that is decided, target all your Internet advertising to your niche. In that way you will make more money by eliminating much of your competition and by causing your ads to rank higher in the search engines for your specific niche.

Marketing only within your niche helps you to become specialized, so you offer better, more complete services. This creates very happy, repeat customers.

2. Build a website within your niche that brings you FREE traffic.

This is The Most important of all Internet advertising strategies. It is The Most Economical way to advertise online.

Build a website that consistently ranks high with search engines so that when people search for keywords pertaining to your niche you are consistently in the top percentile and on the first page.

If your webpage is on the first page of results when someone does a search, that is called FREE advertising.

If your website has not generated a significant volume of free traffic via search engine ranking then you are destined to pay for your traffic forever.

Unless you determine that paying continuously for advertising in your market brings you a great, quick return on investment, then you are better off focusing on building a website that will bring you free traffic.

Some would argue that free advertising takes so long to set up and is highly competitive.

However, if you take the time in the beginning to set up your websites and free Internet advertising, you will soon have free traffic which will generate more and more free traffic creating a snowballing effect forever.

Whereas if you begin with paid advertising because you feel you have no time to set up your free advertising, then you will be paying for advertising forever and losing much of your profit.

These incoming links will be noticed by Search Engines which will up your rank, bringing more traffic, and the snowball effect begins and increases as you continue to build valuable, relevant content.

So the hours, days or weeks you spend researching and writing quality content will work for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for as many years as you stay online.

The visitors drawn by these keyword rich, quality content web pages are much more valuable to you. The reason is because they are already PREsold by your content, rather than by just seeing an ad and clicking out of curiosity. Nothing beats this PREsold free traffic.

3. Build your free ad campaigns before building your paid campaigns.

Free ads include all types of viral marketing, strong and regular article marketing, becoming a helpful, caring networking socialite, and having plenty of fun with video marketing on YouTube and other places.

4. Make SURE your paid internet advertising brings great ROI.

Test your ads. Experiment with different keywords or phrases in your ads. Experiment with ad locations. Do not put all your eggs in one basket…diversify your advertising. Keep up with what advertising works and what does not work. “Starve what fails, feed what works.” If you can pay $10 for every 100 visitors and 1 out of 100 clicks earns you $100 profit, then you will be making a good Return On Investment (ROI) and advertising certainly pays off.
